What is a Virtual Assistant?

Quite simply a Virtual Assistant will change your business and life for the greater good!

That’s all you need to know, but if you are looking for a more formal answer, then here’s a little detail:

A dedicated VA is someone who provides professional administrative support to you and can specialise in an area of technical and or creative assistance, working remotely to that of the client. Largely VA’s come from an experienced background, with several years working in the ‘real’ business world / office environment, which for myself was 8 years and then I wanted a new challenge, but still doing the job I love.

As entrepreneurs, whether leading a start up, SME or successfully established conglomerate my clients look for an Executive Personal Assistant to work attentively, and closely to support them, but want to avoid the need to have the expense, infrastructure and overheads that a full time ‘in house’ Assistant would incur. Some business leaders travel so much that to have someone sat in an office 9-6, 5 days a week is of no benefit to them, or they want their Assistant to be out and about themselves, in more creative and innovative spaces.

The opportunity of working with a VA provides not only financial benefits, but transfers exceptional added value to the business and is highly flexible compared to alternative Assistant options and it can even be more accessible.

How do I support you remotely?

With today’s diverse, innovative online platforms and vast different ways to connect, I use a number of effective means of communication and technology to personalise and manage my client’s workload. I can also integrate into your corporate environment if you wish to provide a phone/ laptop. Here’s just a few of the more obvious examples:

  • Online client platforms with support spaces: Dropbox and Google Drive for information sharing;
  • BaseCamp for Project Management;
  • Communication: meeting in person, yes! Just because it says ‘Virtual’ in the title I am a real person and based in London, respectful of the occasional meet in person if required. SkypeGoogle HangoutsEvernote, and of course over the phone and email;
  • Hardware: printer, scanner, laptop, video cam.

Don’t forget just because the essence of a Virtual Assistant is to work remotely to you, that does not mean we have to be strangers or only speak on an ad hoc basis. I like to keep in touch as much or as little as you want to. It is valuable to me, and I believe to my client to build a good rapport, which means communication is a priority to me. The more comfortable you are with one another, the greater productivity from both sides and the more I will go out of my way to see to, and even exceed expectations.
